Butchers Yard – Earls Barton
The Butchers yard is as it says, an old disused butchers yard in the middle of Earls Barton but in an excellent location, in the historical part of Earls Barton fronting the historical grade 1 listed Saxon Church .
The site originally had an old dilapidated historic barn this was been used as a dance studio for the village. The other issues were that the heritage officer was reluctant to demolish the original historic barn and demanded a high-quality design that reflected the local history of the area but with historic tones. The site is also positioned directly across from the Grade one listed Saxon church, this made the design criteria even more stringent.
We delivered a quality design that lifts the area, we also built a new dance studio to the benefit of the locals. The site consists of 5 two bed houses and 3 three bed houses to a really high quality standard, incorporating natural ironstone matching the local vernacular of the area.
The dwellings had oversized ceilings with wet rooms incorporated into the ensuites, the design criteria was to create and generate space within the tight confines which we did to the delights of the clients, all the houses sold off plan.
